Christopher E. Hlavacek, CPA, was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. He grew up as a Kamper at Kanakuk Kamps and participated in Springfield K-Life. He received a degree in Accounting & Finance from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, where he also played soccer and volunteered for the Fort Worth K-Life. Upon graduation, he went to work for PriceWaterHouseCoopers and specialized in taxation. While working there, he earned his designation as a "Certified Public Accountant."
He moved to Branson, Missouri in May of 2001 to become the Chief Financial Officer of the Kanakuk Institute. He still operates a tax practice in addition to his responsibilities at the Institute, and is a licensed Investment Advisor Representative and Registered Representative for Genworth Financial Securities Corporation.
Chris married Sarah in May of 2003. She is a Physician's Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery for St. John's Hospital in Branson. The two of them gave birth to their first son, Hunter Thomas Hlavacek on 12/27/07. Chris is also a deacon at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church and, aside from his role of managing the Institute's budget, he spends many hours with the students helping them with stewardship. The Hlavacek family is highly involved at an orphanage in Haiti called “Canaan” where they lead multiple mission trips every year.
