Being continuously mindful of the needs of the local community is an important objective for the Kanakuk Institute. Each year the Institute takes the students on a stateside mission trip. In the past, students have been involved with various projects on the Gulf Coast, working in Ocean Springs, Gulfport, Pascagoula, and Biloxi MS, and New Orleans, LA to repair damage from Hurricane Katrina. They have also spent time in Springfield, MO, ministering to many local needs.
