Mike Haley
As one of the nation’s leading speakers on gender issues, Mike Haley has captivated and inspired thousands with his testimony of how he walked away from homosexuality. His insights come not only from his experiences as a gay teen and young adult, but also from the many years he has counseled men and women struggling with same-sex attractions and their loved ones, who struggle in their own way when a family member or friend “comes out.”
Haley shares those insights with his broadest audience yet in his book, 101 Frequently Asked Questions About Homosexuality (Harvest House, 2004), which offers simple, practical truths about some of the most confusing and contentious issues surrounding homosexuality. He has also been a guest on several news programs, has written for numerous publications and has been featured in videos such as Dr. Dobson’s Bringing Up Boys series, Reaching into the Closet and A Journey Out.

As director of the Gender Issues department of Focus on the Family, Haley oversees and speaks at the ministry’s Love Won Out conferences, which offer accurate information and hope to families affected by homosexuality. He also speaks frequently to churches, colleges and universities, public schools and youth groups, and has appeared at national conventions including the 2004 Southern Baptist Convention’s Pastor’s Conference. He serves as chairman of the board of directors of Exodus International, the world’s largest Christian ministry offering support to individuals who want to walk away from homosexuality.
Prior to coming to Focus on the Family in 1998, Haley fulfilled a lifelong dream by serving as a youth pastor for one of the largest churches in Memphis, Tennessee. He has a degree in Christian education from Biola University and is currently pursuing a master’s in counseling.
Mike and his wife, Angie, were married in 1994 and are the proud parents of two young sons. They make their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. |
