The Kanakuk Institute has recently become a dual-track program.  Students may choose to take the “Institute” path, which includes Biblical training and experience in practical ministry, or they may choose the “Institute/JBU” joint program, which involves the same teaching and internship, with additional classes and assignments from John Brown University professors.

INSTITUTE TRACK
Institute Track students will be focused on local Branson ministry.  They will be more available to work in area internships and at the Boys and Girls Club.  They may also help with special Kanakuk Kamps-related projects.  The Institute track is a great option for individuals seeking to dedicate a year to Biblical study and ministry training, but not necessarily seeking a Masters degree.

The Kanakuk Institute believes that training you in the Word of God coupled with practical ministry skills will truly prepare you for a lifetime of ministry.  As we have continued to grow and changed over the years we have added different areas of emphasis within this program.  Currently, we offer these three areas of emphasis:

Youth Ministry Emphasis

The youth ministry emphasis focuses on Junior High and High School aged kids in a church or para-church ministry setting.

Urban Ministry Emphasis

The urban tract brings further classroom teaching with an emphasis on ministry in an Urban setting and is led by some of the most equipped leaders in the area of urban

ministry.

Children’s Ministry Emphasis

Children’s ministry is a fast-growing area that desires educated leaders to invest into the lives of our younger kids; this program focuses on the practical application of

children’s ministry.

INSTITUTE with JBU TRACK
Institute/JBU Track students will complete many of the same requirements as the Institute Track students, in addition to reading and assignments given by John Brown University professors. The Institute program is worth 12 credit hours, and students will complete an additional 22 credit hours through JBU-based courses. To check out information about the JBU/Kanakuk Institute partnership program, click here.  There are several options of how to complete this program.

Alumni Track

The first option is to complete the Institute program during your year in Branson and then to do the John Brown Master’s work as an alumni over a several year period.

2-Year Plan

The second option is to work on the Institute and John Brown program simultaneously and complete the remaining hours of Master’s work the following year.

1-Year Plan

The third option is to do both the Institute and John Brown programs in a 7-month window where all the work for both programs is completed between September 1st, and May 1st.
